Diagnostics

Testing only what your situation needs.

At gynxtra, diagnostics are never a standard step. Your physician recommends one of four profiles only when the result would genuinely change how your situation is understood or treated. Current and relevant medical records will be taken into account.

When diagnostics make sense

Not a standard step, but a medical decision.

A single value rarely says much on its own, and hormone levels swing widely during perimenopause. Your physician decides in the initial consultation whether measuring would actually sharpen the picture.

Recommended
before hormone therapy or other medication, to establish baseline values, confirm safety and guide the choice of preparation and dose
Optional
when symptoms are unclear and no recent values exist, to weigh other causes such as thyroid function or iron deficiency
Not needed
when recent findings already exist or the picture is clear, in which case you go straight to your treatment plan
Four profiles

Matched to your situation.

Each profile answers a different question. Your physician puts together what fits your situation, a single profile or a combination. The scope and costs will be discussed with you in advance.

Hormone profile

Before HRT
A fit when

your cycle is becoming irregular, hot flushes, sleep or mood are changing, or hormone therapy is planned or already under way.

Markers include

Estradiol (E2), FSH, LH, Progesterone, Testosterone, SHBG, TSH (thyroid)

Extended health profile

Unclear symptoms
A fit when

fatigue, brain fog or joint pain persist without a clear cause and a broader look is warranted.

Markers include

Full blood count, Ferritin, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, TSH (thyroid), blood lipids, inflammatory markers

Weight and metabolic profile

Before weight management
A fit when

you are gaining weight although your diet and activity have not changed, or medical weight management is being considered.

Markers include

HbA1c, fasting glucose, insulin, blood lipids, liver values, TSH (thyroid)

Liver and kidney profile

Before and on medication
A fit when

medication is planned or already under way, and liver and kidney values are needed as a baseline or for monitoring over time.

Markers include

GPT (ALAT), GOT (ASAT), GGT, Bilirubin, Creatinine, eGFR

Two ways to give a sample

At a laboratory or at home.

There are two ways to have your blood taken: at a partner laboratory near you, or with a test kit at home. Which one suits you is something your physician discusses with you in the initial consultation.

A partner laboratory near you

For all four blood profiles.
On site
  • An appointment at the partner laboratory, the blood sample takes only a few minutes
  • Your GP or gynaecologist can take the sample too
  • Results go straight to your gynxtra physician

All four profiles require a blood sample.

Test kit by post

For collecting at home, in your own time.
At home
  • The kit arrives at your home, return postage included
  • You take the sample yourself, following clear instructions
  • Covers the key markers, with no appointment and no journey

Whether the kit covers your profile is your physician's call.

How it works

How diagnostics work here.

The scope and costs will be discussed with you in advance, before any further step begins.

  1. Recommendation in the initial consultation

Your physician chooses the profile that fits your situation, or decides against testing altogether.

  2. Blood sample

At a partner laboratory near you, at your GP's practice, or with a test kit at home. You agree the route with your physician. Recent findings you already have can be uploaded directly.

  3. Medical assessment

Your physician reviews and interprets the values before you see them, so you are never left with raw numbers and no context.

  4. Results consultation

In a dedicated 1:1 video consultation you go through your values and receive your treatment plan. The results consultation is part of the diagnostics you agreed and is not charged separately.

Example view · Your own values and what they mean are discussed with your physician.
Your results, digital

Results you understand, not just receive.

Your physician releases your values in the results consultation and explains what they mean. They then stay available in your patient area, with that context attached rather than as bare numbers.

  1. The consultation first, then the numbers

Values are never made visible automatically. Your physician releases them in the results consultation, so you are not left to interpret them on your own.

  2. Repeat testing when it is indicated

If your physician sees a medical reason for it, a repeat test is arranged. You then see the change against your baseline.

  3. Every value in context

Within the target range, unusual, or relevant to your plan, each with a short note on what the value means.

Fit Check

When your body changes, your next step should feel clear.

The Fit Check takes two minutes and tells you whether this approach suits you. After that you choose a time for your medical initial consultation.

FAQ

Your questions, answered.

The questions that come up most often before the initial consultation. Anything beyond them you discuss directly with your specialist.

All questions and answers
When are diagnostics appropriate?

If further assessment is appropriate, your physician may recommend targeted diagnostics. Current and relevant medical records will be taken into account.

What do diagnostics cost?

Your physician recommends targeted diagnostics only when they are medically indicated. The scope and costs will be discussed with you in advance.

When do I see my lab results?

Your physician reviews and interprets the values first. They are released in the results consultation, together with what they mean and your treatment plan.

What exactly happens during the initial consultation?

You complete a medical history questionnaire beforehand, in your own time. In the 1:1 video consultation, your specialist discusses your situation, places it in context, and recommends whether and which diagnostics make sense. If you already have prior findings, you review them together right away.

What if I am already taking hormones?

The initial consultation is also suitable for reviewing and optimising an existing hormone therapy. Please indicate in the questionnaire which preparations you are currently taking.

Will I automatically be prescribed hormones after the initial consultation?

Not automatically. Your physician only recommends therapy when medically indicated. Some patients benefit from lifestyle interventions or other measures. Your health and safety come first.
