Treatment

Understand your symptoms.
Find the right treatment together.

Hormone therapy or medical weight management: your initial consultation is where we go through your symptoms, any findings you already have and the questions you have brought with you. Together we establish whether treatment is right for you, and which form it should take.

Our approach

How we guide your treatment.

If treatment is appropriate, both the plan and the care that follows are shaped around your situation. Every decision is made by a specialist physician, never by an algorithm.

  • Built around youNo standard protocol. Whether hormone therapy, medication or changes to how you live, the preparation and the dose follow from your findings and from how you respond.
  • Medication where indicatedWhether medication is an option for you is a medical judgement. If something is prescribed, we take care of the prescription and the delivery through our partner pharmacy.
  • Cared for throughoutFollow-ups, adjustments and messages to your medical team, all in your patient area. Monthly or quarterly, depending on the level of care your treatment calls for. If something needs attention sooner, your physician brings your appointment forward.
Two areas

Hormone therapy and medical weight management

Which of the two matters for you is something we work out together. You do not have to decide anything before your initial consultation.

Hormone therapy

A medical view on what is right for you.

For women in perimenopause or menopause who want their symptoms put in context and a considered conversation about whether hormone therapy is an option.

What your care includes
  • A medical assessment of your symptoms and any existing findings
  • A personal treatment plan, with hormone therapy where medically suitable
  • Preparation, dose and follow-up cadence based on findings and progress
  • Regular follow-ups, with adjustments where needed

An existing hormone therapy can also be reviewed and adjusted in the initial consultation.

Medical weight management

A medical view on changes in weight and metabolism.

For women in midlife with weight gain, a changed appetite or questions about their metabolism.

What your care includes
  • A medical assessment of your symptoms and your metabolic situation
  • A treatment plan built on nutrition, movement and sleep
  • A personal treatment plan, with medication where medically suitable
  • Medical oversight of tolerability and dosing
  • Regular follow-ups, with adjustments where needed

In midlife, hormones and metabolism are often linked, so your physician looks at both together. This is not a diet and not a before and after story. The aim is a stable metabolism and a measurable easing of your symptoms.

Which treatment suits you is assessed medically in the initial consultation. A prescription never follows automatically.

How it works

Your path, step by step.

Every path begins with a medical initial consultation. Your specialist puts what has changed into context and recommends diagnostics only where they genuinely clarify something for your treatment plan.

  1. Initial consultation

Beforehand, and in your own time, you complete your medical history questionnaire. In the 1:1 video consultation you go through your symptoms, your findings and your questions. You receive a personal medical assessment and a recommendation for the next steps. 30 minutes by video, CHF 250.

  2. Targeted diagnostics

If further assessment is appropriate, your physician recommends targeted diagnostics. Current findings you already have are taken into account. She discusses the scope and the cost with you in advance.

  3. Results consultation

If diagnostics have taken place, you go through your values in a dedicated 1:1 video consultation and agree your treatment plan there with your physician.

  4. Treatment

Whether treatment makes sense is something you decide together. Where it is indicated, your physician stays with you through regular follow-ups and adjusts your plan as needed.

Measurable change

Your symptoms and values in Progress.

Your whole care runs in your personal patient area behind a login: appointments, progress, treatment plan and messages to your medical team.

  • Weekly check-inYou rate your symptoms in the app. One minute a week.
  • A trend, not a snapshotSleep, energy, mood, hot flushes, libido and body image over time, alongside weight and laboratory values.
  • The basis for your consultationYour physician sees the same progress and adjusts the plan where needed.

Sample view from the patient area, with fictitious values. Not a promise of any treatment outcome. Every patient's progress is different.

Ongoing care

Ongoing physician-led care.

Medically, we usually plan a treatment over six months. That is a planning horizon, not a contractual commitment. How often you are seen depends on your therapy and is recommended by your physician.

FAQ

Your questions, answered.

The questions that come up most often before the initial consultation. Anything else you clarify directly with your specialist.

All questions and answers

Will I automatically be prescribed hormones after the initial consultation?

Not automatically. Your physician recommends a therapy only where it is medically indicated. Some patients benefit from lifestyle measures or from other steps. Your health and your safety come first.

What if I am already taking hormones?

The initial consultation is also the right place to review and optimise an existing hormone therapy. Please note in the questionnaire which preparations you are currently taking.

What does the initial consultation cost?

The initial consultation costs CHF 250 as a one-off fee. If further diagnostics or ongoing treatment are medically appropriate, your physician discusses the recommended scope and the costs involved with you before any further step begins.

Does my health insurance cover the cost?

gynxtra services are self-pay services. gynxtra does not bill health insurers, and reimbursement through basic insurance is not provided for. Medication your physician prescribes is also paid for by you. In return, you see every price in advance.

When are diagnostics appropriate?

If further assessment is appropriate, your physician recommends targeted diagnostics. Current findings you already have are taken into account.

Is medication included in the price?

No. Medication, and any additional laboratory services, are billed separately and are not included in the price of physician-led care.
